Our April schedule is available, and we have some upcoming vacations and LOTS of changes! All changes go into effect on 4/1/2024. Assistants, please keep an eye out for when your provider is out of the office. I do have you scheduled with DAW or sterile tech on those days.
Shoua will now be on DKM's team as the Scheduling Coordinator.
Ika'ika will now be DAW's 2nd assistant.
Renee will be DAW's Scheduling Coordinator. She does not work on Wednesdays, so on those days Kolina or I will be fill in for her for Doctor Huddles.
Kolina will be off on Thursdays when DCH and his team are off. I will help answer insurance questions, but no promises that they'll be correct.
Reminder: Princess has joined the marketing team. Her videos have been amazing, and we're very grateful for her sharing her skills with developing content for social media! Don't be surprised if you see her on her phone more making videos or spending time on FB or IG. It's all for the sake of helping us make the world aware of how awesome HCD is!
We're excited for these changes and look forward to move forward with our new doctor teams!
Team Meeting Summary
After our meeting, I thought it'd be best to collect the articles and other information that was shared during our meeting into one place. If you have anything else to add, please let me know. We can always include it here and let everyone know this is the place to find that kind of information. As for now, these are from my notes and what I found online.

"This Will Keep You Motivated"
I just found this video today and it hit me hard. I've struggled with feeling overwhelmed lately, and it's been hard to find the bright spot when I keep getting hit with more and more storms. I've come to realize that I'm not alone. There are some among us that are feeling stressed and hopeless with the schedule, the amount of work to do, and being unable to do it all.
Well, this video doesn't address that specifically, but it does kind of flip the script on how to stay motivated. I've read and been told by many to focus on the reward or end goal to help me get through the tough times. Focusing on the goal will make me want to push my way through it so I can get that reward that much sooner. However, this doesn't work for me, and many times I find my self trudging through the work and losing focus on the end goal because it's too far away.
This video is by "Andrew Huberman, Ph.D., is a neuroscientist and tenured professor in the department of neurobiology, and by courtesy, psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford School of Medicine." He has a very popular podcast that focuses on science and science based tools for every day life.
What spoke to me in this video was changing where we expect that dopamine hit in order to help us stay motivated. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that helps us feel pleasure. It also plays a big role in planning, focus, and staying motivated. If we don't have that hit of dopamine, it feels like what we're doing has no point and we lose interest quickly if we don't have the discipline to stick with it.
We have to find a way to receive that dopamine release when we're in the thick of it. We have to find joy in the efforts, in the work we do in order to stay on the course to achieve our goals. This includes the goal of the end of the day and getting to go home! If we only focus on getting home, it's going to be very awful to endure another day at the clinic, another day of patients, another day of bad scheduling, etc., etc. We might need to fake it till we make it, but the more we hear ourselves tell ourselves that we enjoy this and that you can't wait to do it again, the more we feel that dopamine and thereby we've found the motivation to keep us happy and enthused about the work we do.
This is just the 7 minute video. If you want to watch it, he does have a 2 hour podcast about this and how you can improve your skills to find motivation/dopamine in the effort.
Send your team a meme or emoji showing what you could do with a dopamine release!
