Can you believe we haven't done this in over a month?!? Where does the time go... Thank you to everyone for a great team meeting today. I'm so glad to work with such fun people! Here is a synopsis of the scuttlebutt at HCD.

August Schedule

With various vacations from multiple people, please keep an eye on the schedule for the month of August. There is a printed copy to review in the breakroom and at the front desk.

CE with Burkhart

There are a few CE courses coming up online with Burkhart. If you'd like to attend, let me know, and we'll help cover the fee. The HIPAA one looks exceptionally interesting. Anyone up for tacos and OSHA on a Thursday night?

Clifford Testing

ree

In reviewing treatment options at HCD, we've realized there are somethings we're not doing or haven't done in a long time. One of these is offering Clifford Testing to our patients concerned with allergies or sensitivities to materials we use in dentistry. This is a quick reminder that we can provide these tests for them and both the patient and the provider will receive a complete report on the patient's compatibility with our materials. If you'd like to learn more about this option for patients, let me know and we'll add it to our team training agenda.

HCD Cancer Patient Baskets

We are ready for a 2nd run for our patients with cancer that would benefit from a gift basket with dental/oral health products to help them get through their radiation or chemotherapy treatment. Please let Leah, Kolina, or myself know if you have a patient that needs one.

Disinfecting the Gemini

ree

Did you know there is a special protocol for disinfecting the Gemini laser? No disinfectant should be used on the laser. This means the entire laser should be covered with plastic. We found out the hard way that corrosion happens which leads to the laser breaking down when it is wiped with Cavi-wipes or Cavicide. If you'd like more instruction on how the Gemini should be barriered, Jillian has it down to a science and would be more than willing to help.

Family File & Provider Changes

ree

We've all been there... Your patient wants to see someone else, but doesn't want to leave the practice. When this happens, we MUST notate why the patient has decided to switch providers. Then please let Rachael or the doctors know that the patient is switching providers. DO NOT switch the provider. Rachael will handle that part. Having one person responsible for that major change will help alleviate potential confusion and/or upset.

If a patient has seen another provider for a single appointment or even two appointments, this does not mean they patient has changed providers. They are still patients for the provider listed in the Family File. We have found a few patients that have been switched to new doctors and/or new hygienists when they've only seen said provider once and did not ask to be switched.
