December Schedule
Can you believe this is the last month of 2020? We made it! Here is the schedule for December. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Timely Exams
We have used post-it notes with information from our hygienist to help make it easier for the doctors to know where and when they are needed. We want to make sure everyone is on the same page with the information they are writing on the post-it in order to ensure continuity amongst our team.

Time In/Out: Time In refers to when the patient was seated in your chair. Time Out refers to when the patient is scheduled to be out of your chair. To help the doctor and his team plan properly for exam time, please make sure the doctor gets this note as soon as your patient is seated.
Patient's first name only: This will prevent possible HIPAA violation should a patient see the sticky or if someone throws the sticky in the garbage.
Periodontal Charting
Our standard of care at HCD is to ensure a complete periodontal charting (CPC) is completed on every patient once a year. This charting should include any furcations, recession, and bleeding points. Periodontal charting is necessary for insurance and treatment planning for tissue grafts and periodontal therapies.
Periodontal charting is also vital for a new patient's periodontal diagnosis by the hygienist. If you have agreed to assist a hygienist with their CPC for a NPHYG, please make sure you are there at the beginning of the appointment to ensure the hygienist can complete the necessary treatment within the time allotted.
Ice Cleats
This time of year is always fun when trying to avoid slipping on the ice. Everyone loves a helpful ice cleat except for our flooring. Please remember to remove your ice cleats at the door before you enter the clinic. This will prevent damage to the new flooring and - more importantly - prevent you from slipping on the cleats!
Planning for 2021
It's been a very full year and I apologize for not planning ahead for the 2021 schedule for our team. I have entered the team meetings and the official holidays/office closures for 2021. I do need to have each provider let me know ASAP which days they plan on being out for this next year. This will help us schedule patients correctly.
You will also see a change in provider operatories and workdays. I will put notes for each day for the changes in 2021. It will take a little bit to get used to and I appreciate your willingness to work with the changes.
I decided to put my thoughts at the bottom of this headline to see how many team members are reading these messages. It is vital that we all stay on the same page and I have found having a digital site where all the information is available our best option. To help ensure team members are reading these messages, we are going to do a little challenge this week. If you've read this far, please send me a private text with the message "PENGUINS". You will be entered to win one of 2 $25 gift cards. Don't tell anyone else to read this, though... I really want to know who is reading these on their own volition. Thank you!
